Tai Chi Walking has become one of the biggest wellness trends of the year. It's filled feeds with millions of slow, deliberate steps across parks and living rooms. While we love to see presence become popular, and the health benefits of Tai Chi Walking are well documented, many of these of trends present Tai Chi Walking as a set of calisthenics and miss the core meaning of Tai Chi Walking.
Tai Chi Walking: Holden QiGong Style
First and foremost, Tai Chi Walking is an energy cultivation practice.
You're not just getting exercise, you're gathering Qi - life force energy. And when you cultivate Qi, you're not only feeding your physical body, you're feeding your mind, your spirit, and your connection to the world around you.
The Tai Chi Walking 10-Day Challenge is built around a simple idea: instead of this being a Tai Chi course with long sequences to memorize, we give you walking practices that unite Tai Chi and Qi Gong, that you can do anywhere.
The walk is easy, and it’s broken down into the Tai Chi layer and the Qi Gong layer.
The Tai Chi layer:
The Qi Gong layer:
There’s nothing to memorize before the challenge starts, so all you need to do is show up ready to learn.
Practice in your living room on a morning you can't get outside, or fold it straight into the walk you're already taking. Either way, the practice doesn't ask you to change your whole day for it.
Everything you need for the challenge lives in one place. You’ll have access to walking video routines when you want to watch Lee do the movement, and guided audio walks when you're already out the door and just need his voice pacing you through it.
Why we’re doing a 10 day “challenge”
When you do something for a solid week or ten days, it settles into your body and it much more likely to become a habit.
You'll walk these ten days alongside a whole community taking the challenge with you. You'll share what you're noticing, the buzz in your hands after a walk, the trail that suddenly looked different, the morning you almost skipped and were glad you didn't. You'll see what everyone else is discovering, ask your questions, and get a nudge of encouragement on the days it's hard to get out the door.
Consistency is the one thing most people struggle with, and it turns out the simplest way to keep showing up is to show up with other people.
As Lee puts it, a group walk is more than a walk. So give it ten days, with a community walking beside you, and see how different your walks, and your days, feel by the time you reach the end.
And everything you need to actually do it:
