4 Ways to Fully Integrate the Healing Benefits of Qi Gong After Your Practice

Four Ways to Integrate the Healing Benefits of Qi Gong

Do you ever wonder how to channel the healing benefits of your Qi Gong practice into the rest of your day?

Like you just want to experience the wonderful feeling of Qi even when you’re done practicing?

Although the benefits of Qi Gong naturally flow into all aspects of your life, there are a few simple steps you can take to integrate Qi Gong’s healing qualities well beyond your practice session…

In one of our previous blogs, we shared tips to help you prepare for your Qi Gong practice. In this blog, you’ll discover how to integrate the nourishing qualities of your practice so the Qi continues to flow through you even after you’re done practicing.

1. Drink Plenty of Water

Qi Gong may not make you sweat like many other forms of exercise, but it still stirs up a lot of energy within you. Therefore, it’s important to stay hydrated during and after your practice in order to keep your energy strong.

Although the movements in Qi Gong are slower than other kinds of exercise, the practice engages your body in a variety of different ways. Over the course of your practice session, your body uses energy to cultivate energy. Just as you wouldn’t go on a long hike without bringing your water bottle, you should always keep a glass of water or bottle close by when you practice.

In addition to expending physical energy, Qi Gong can also activate emotional and spiritual energy. When you drink water, it supports all aspects of your being, not just your physical body.

Drinking water helps you fully integrate all of the healing benefits that your Qi Gong practice offers.

2. Spend a Few Minutes Reflecting or Journaling

Qi Gong can bring up many different thoughts, feelings, and internal experiences.

Sometimes, Qi Gong makes you aware of feelings or energies that you didn’t even know existed. At other times, the practice helps transform feelings such as sadness or anger into feelings of acceptance or compassion.

When you practice Qi Gong, these transformations happen on a deep, energetic level that affects your entire being. However, in many cases, it can take some time for these shifts to really sink in. Reflecting and journaling can help with this process.

After your practice, spend some time reflecting on how you feel and any changes you notice. Ask yourself questions such as:

How has my energy transformed through my practice?

What feelings or sensations am I experiencing?

What new thoughts or insights are present for me right now?

You can ask yourself these questions internally and simply spend a couple of minutes reflecting on your answers. However, if you want to take it a step further, spend some time journaling about your experience.

Journaling is a great way to deeply reflect on your practice and fully integrate the transformations and healing qualities of your Qi Gong practice.

3. Listen to Your Energy

One of the wonderful things about Qi Gong is that it helps you become more aware of your own internal energy and personal needs. After your Qi Gong practice, pay attention to how you feel and what activities would best support your energy system.

Do you feel called to rest and relax for a bit?

Or, do you feel inspired to express yourself through a creative endeavor you’ve been wanting to pursue?

Or, perhaps you feel drawn to connect with a loved one you care about?

Qi Gong helps you get in touch with the deepest parts of yourself that want to be expressed. If you listen closely to the energy within you, you’ll find that it can guide you in ways that support your mind, emotions, and spirit.

When you listen to your energy and let it be your guide, you’re able to continue cultivating the gifts of Qi Gong well beyond your practice session.

4. Remember that Life IS Qi Gong

It’s easy to think of Qi Gong as a specific movement practice. However, everything in life is Qi Gong in one form or another.

The word “Qi” means “life force energy,” and “Gong” means “to work with.” Quite literally, Qi Gong is simply the practice of working with your internal energy.

Qi Gong movement and meditation practices are a very direct and powerful way to work with your internal energy, but everything you do influences your energy in some way. Whether you’re laughing with a friend or preparing a meal, your internal energy is responding based on how you engage in the world around you.

When you apply this perspective, you realize that all life experiences represent an opportunity to do Qi Gong. Therefore, when you finish your practice, you haven’t actually stopped practicing. You’ve simply shifted to doing a different form of Qi Gong practice.

This simple yet powerful shift can help you view the “end” of your Qi Gong practice as the beginning of another form of nourishing practice.

Based on this, when you’re done with your routine, try to think of the rest of your day as one long, continued Qi Gong practice. When you embrace this perspective, it can really help you take the healing benefits of Qi Gong into the rest of your day.
