"Hello," I answer my phone while gathering kids backpacks and lunches early one school morning.
"Lee, James McRichie here. I work with Eleanor Coppola. We're using a clip from your Qi Gong video series in her next movie. I was calling to get your permission."
I stopped everything I was doing, two lunch boxes in one hand, a backpack thrown over each shoulder, and said, "Yes. Absolutely. Sounds wonderful."
"We need you to come up to the vineyard and do some voiceover work. How does next week sound?"
Over the last few months, I've had the privilege of working with Eleanor Coppola. We had an instant connection and talked about how Qi Gong has been part of her daily life for the last four years.
Since then, I've been to her house on numerous occasions, teaching her Qi Gong in the redwoods or by the stream, giving her acupuncture treatments, and having wonderful conversations drinking tea.
On May 12th, when Eleanor's movie “Paris Can Wait” starring Diane Lane, Alec Baldwin, and Arnaud Viard, comes out, she will be the oldest female director of a major motion picture… she just turned 80 years old. She's an inspiration, a visionary, and a testament to the practice of Qi Gong.
She said that Qi Gong helped her maintain the energy she needed to make her dream a reality and that practicing Qi Gong every day keeps her centered and calm throughout her day… even when things get rough on the set.
Here's a clip of the movie Sailing Lessons that opens with the actress doing Qi Gong and ends with her sharing Qi Gong with her husband:
What inspires you?
What kind of seeds do you want to plant in your life? What kind of dreams are inspiring you? Believe in yourself! Do some Qi Gong to fuel up and bring that energy alive inside of yourself. Get out into nature to help you get clear and create that clarity with your intentions and establish your inner harmony.
When you plant those intentions into fertile soil and water them with the good energy of Qi Gong every day… you never know what might grow from them.
