At its core, Qi Gong is a practice for health and vitality. Many practitioners are drawn to it because it helps them to let go of stress, boost their energy, or process emotions. All of those are great reasons to practice, and each contributes to one’s overall health and well-being.

Although all forms of Qi Gong help us to feel better, some are particularly aimed at health and healing. Buddha Palm is one such practice, and offers amazing tools for helping yourself and others. This blog post will explore how Buddha Palm can help us to harness our own natural healing potential for health and vitality.

What Is Buddha Palm?

First and foremost, Buddha Palm is a Qi Gong practice for self-healing. Among other things, it signifies the process of healing with compassion and teaches us a new way of approaching our own journey for health and well-being.

In Qi Gong, we acknowledge that our thoughts, emotions, and physical health are all intimately connected. In Buddha Palm, we seek to cultivate compassion as a powerful tool for healing.

In the context of self-healing, compassion isn’t always as easy as one might think. When others are sick or in pain, it can be easy to feel compassion and loving kindness. For most people, empathy and love is a natural response to seeing their loved ones in pain. However, often it’s more difficult for us to feel compassion and loving kindness for ourselves.

Why is that?

Many of us take it as a personal defeat or loss when our health or well-being is suffering. Frustration, disappointment, and even self-anger can arise within us when our physical health is challenged. It’s like there’s a subconscious belief that it’s our fault that we’re sick.

While these feelings are important to recognize, it’s essential to move past them. Instead of dwelling in negative emotions towards yourself, Buddha Palm teaches us to cultivate compassion and self-love. By working with these emotional resources, Buddha Palm can help us to harness our own inner potential for self-healing.

The same is true when working with others. Compassion and loving-kindness are powerful tools for helping others with their own healing journey. Not only are other people positively affected by your own compassion, but it helps to awaken those same powerful feelings within themselves. By doing so, you can help a friend or family member gain access to their own emotional strength and power. Through the process, everyone’s mental, emotional, and physical health is nourished.

Alignment With Nature

In additional to cultivating our own compassion and loving-kindness, Buddha Palm also helps us to learn the lessons of the natural world. Qi Gong is a practice in which we’re constantly seeking to find harmony with nature. Taoist sages understood that the answers to all of life’s questions lie in the subtle, yet powerful, ways in which the universe operates.

In the context of health, it’s important to realize that we are not distinct from our surrounding environment. Rather, we are heavily influenced by our relationships with everything around us. Often, sickness or pain is a sign that our internal world is not properly supported by our external reality.

Everyone will agree that your life decisions play an essential role in how you feel. Diet is the clearest example of why it’s important to relate well with external energy. When we choose food (Qi) that is in harmony with our own Qi, our body feels great.

The same is true of all the energies that the world presents to us. When we choose to consume that which serves us, our full beings are cultivated.

In Buddha Palm, we seek to connect to the larger sources of energy that exists all around us. We call these “The Three Forces,” and they include Earth, the universe, and nature.

These Three Forces can be thought of as oceans of energy that we’re constantly swimming in. Just as our mind, emotions, and body are all interconnected, it’s easy to see that the same is true of the heavens, earth, and nature. Each person is a microcosm of the Three Forces, and as such, we have the boundless potential to learn and be nourished by them.

These Three Forces are important sources of power that we can tap into to charge our beings. Just as your cell phone or computer needs energy to operate, so do we as humans. Your cell phone is an electronic device comprised of various metals and a lithium-ion battery. As such, it requires electricity in order to function. Obviously, that means that you must plug your phone into a power source on a regular basis. When your phone is fully charged and in good shape, you can use it for all of the functions a cell phone is intended.

You, on the other hand, are not an electronic object crafted by humans. Rather, you’re an organic manifestation and are driven by the merging of the Earth, nature, and the universe. Therefore, you must consistently tap into those energies in order to be fully charged and realize your complete potential.

Although it’s impossible to escape our dependence on the Three Forces, many people forget how important they really are. When we fail to take in the gifts that they have to offer we can become depleted, tired, or ill. Buddha Palm helps us learn how to fully connect to these sources of energy so we can be our best selves and experience an abundance of energy.

These practices are also very effective for helping others. Just as Buddha Palm helps us to open up our own connection with the Three Forces, it can also help us to channel this energy into others. By doing so, we’re able to help patients and loved ones discover a new way of relating to the Earth, nature, and the cosmos.

Western medicine offers some amazing solutions to many ailments that humans experience. However, we all know that it’s not wise to rely solely on the Western medical system. At Holden QiGong, we believe that it’s extremely important to do whatever is within your own power to take control of your health and to help others do the same. Buddha Palm is the practice that teaches you how to do just that.
