With so many wellness modalities, practices and products to choose from these days, it can be quite overwhelming to figure out what we need for our own healing and growth.
Some people will sample everything to find the “missing piece” they’ve been searching for. And some, overwhelmed by all the information out there, or perhaps afraid, deep down, of trying something new, will ignore the stirrings of their soul and resist changing at all.
Having belonged in the former category, and a “spiritual junkie” since age 28, finding Qi Gong at age 45 was like finding my pot of gold at the end of the rainbow.
At that time, I was not in a good place. I was emotionally, mentally and physically exhausted. And I had almost run out of options as I tried to find a spiritual solution to my emptiness and despair.
But have you noticed the way bright shards of sunlight always manage to pierce their way through even the tiniest cracks in the curtains?
After my very first introduction to Qi Gong with Lee Holden, via his online “30 Day Ultimate Health Challenge,” I was hooked.
I had never even heard of Qi Gong before, but I had a feeling that this 3000-year-old “self care” system from China, which promised “more energy and aliveness,” was exactly what I needed.
With each day of practice, I could feel myself getting stronger and stronger from the inside-out.
I felt like I was reclaiming the real me, journeying within to my essential self, the part of me that was infinite and indestructible.
I felt, for the first time in a long time, that I did not have to claw my way home alone – I could lean on the Earth for support, and gaze up to the Heavens for guidance.
Looking back now, I realize how much that 30 day program delivered on its promise, and so much more…
It had kick-started my sluggish Qi — my life force energy, and got it circulating freely again.
All the murky energy, the stagnant gunk that was stuck in my cells after years of stress and trauma, was gradually cleansed away. All the reservoirs that had almost run dry, where energy wasn’t getting through, were replenished. My Qi began to flow like a surging river.
Slowly but surely, I began to regain my health, along with my courage and confidence.
While my spirit had almost been defeated and I’d wondered if I’d ever recover, I now had the desire to forge ahead and face my challenges.
Within a month of doing 20 minutes of Qi Gong a day, I had transformed my energy system so that healthy, vibrant, positive Qi could move through me and take rightful command of my life again.
As I continued to do Qi Gong daily, the relentless striving for fulfillment from things outside myself, such as the way other people treated me or getting recognition for my work, started to lose its appeal. My resistance to situations I could not control gradually faded away.
I discovered that I had the ability to self-manage the quality and quantity of “aliveness” moving through me. I could even transform negative emotions into positive ones, and “shake off” stress and toxic energy picked up from other people.
Put simply, Qi is the creative intelligence, the organizing principle, behind every living thing in our universe. It is the invisible force that creates a human being from the collision of two tiny cells, the same force which continues to beat our heart and breathe our lungs throughout our life.
The energy that moves through us is the same mysterious energy that moves the ocean tides, causes flower buds to bloom, and keeps the sun and planets orbiting through space.
Through my new daily habit of Qi Gong, which means “Energy Cultivation,” I became my own preventative health physician, my own healer, therapist, spiritual guru, and motivational life coach.
It opened a doorway to accelerated personal development and consciousness expansion.
Instead of continuing to live a painfully divided existence, Qi Gong helped me bridge “the form and the formless,” the physical and non-physical aspects of my being. It awakened me to the freedom, power, and divinity of my true self.
After more than 5 years of regular practice, Qi Gong still provides me with everything I need. It gives me the support and security I had always struggled to grasp outside myself. It continually inspires me to fulfill my soul’s purpose, and nourishes me every step of the way.
Who/what could we possibly trust more… than the guidance of our own life force energy?
When we become more centred and balanced within ourselves, when we know who we are and what we want, we are able to make conscious choices for ourselves from a much deeper and wiser place, with clarity and discernment.
We then know intuitively what experiences to allow in, which to walk away from, and what action to take (if any) for the next stage of our evolution.
Qi Gong has brought more peace, love, healing, and truth into my life than I ever imagined possible. But only because of my willingness to give it a try.
I had nothing to lose, and everything to gain. Just like you.
